This
Is A "MUST READ" Article!
Investment Malfeasance and
Breach of Fiduciary
Duty
2006 - I'm
putting this article at the TOP of the
list for a reason. When you read this,
you'll realize that the vast majority of
Financial Industry Insiders have
absolutely NO BUSINESS handling your
money or presenting themselves as
"Financial Planners." That includes not
only stockbrokers, insurance guys,
bankers, and other "investment advisors"
but also most CPAs and lawyers as
well!
This article provides
IRREFUTABLE PROOF that the MOST IMPORTANT
aspect to consider when constructing a
financial plan -- RISK --
is virtually ignored in most cases!
And those so-called "Risk" questionnaires
that you filled out when you bought the
mutual fund or opened the brokerage
account? They are pretty much useless
except to cover the broker's rear end...
they provide no useful information
as they are geared toward SALES, not
toward true SERVICE. And what was it you
were seeking? To be SOLD something, or
were you seeking useful professional
help? Let me guess...
Why would such an important
factor be ignored so frequently? Mainly
because it's not understood! So it's
easier to just ignore it, or cover it up
with some poorly worded, short
explanation like "We're not taking too
much risk this way." It sounds good, but
typically has no connection with
reality.
Now, let me warn you: This
will NOT be an "easy read" by any
stretch of the imagination. First, the
article/report is NOT written at the
typical 6th grade reading level of most
newspapers and magazines. Second,
it's LONG - 8,292 words to be exact...
not the typical 400 to 500 words found in
the typical
article.
So, let this be a way of giving
yourself a test. If - after reading this
article - your head hasn't
exploded... take it as a good sign. If
you have several "Ah-hah!" moments, take
that as a better sign. And if you feel
like you have an understanding of risk
like you've never had before, then take
that as a very good
sign.
But then you need to review how
risk applies to where your money is now,
and review how the risk you are taking
has been explained to you. This may be
where you'll begin to see some
problems... but you've got to start
somewhere! So...
